Romeo and Juliet

In English class with Miss. Baren, we need to make a project with a group of two or more members that consisted in doing a comic book about Romeo and Juliet. We only did a specific act per group. My group was Feris, Marifer and I. We made act 2 and it was a very difficult and funny at the same time. All the days that it took to finish the comic book in comic life were all in computer's class. It helped us a lot being able to use computers to find Spark notes to understand better the play with other words/synonyms etc. By using spark notes and also my text book, I choose all the dialogues and quotes to put it in our comic. Then we went to Feris house to take the photos of what was happening in act 2. Feris house perfectly fit in with the setting of act 2 because it had a balcony, a very cool room that was a little baroque like in that time and a lot of customs. Finally we plugged the pictures to the computers on the school and started doing the comic by writing the dialogues and the narrations. As I already said, this project very difficult but fun at the same time. It stressed me a lot during the project because some of my partners didn't came to school and Feris one's forgot the photos in his house. I think that our project deserves to be put in the library because it is understandable and funny.

Comics are a good way to learn about serious literature like Romeo and Juliet. We made this project as a comic book to summarize the story of Romeo and Juliet and also to be funny. I know that we don't read comics usually to learn something but it can work in that way. Usually comics are cartoon characters with a purpose to entertain the reader with adventures, suspense, death, fights ect but it can be also to teach something, why not?

A day on the bay

In computer class, we made some videos about what we might do if we only live a day in a bay, in PV. My video consist on many photos and short clips that only lasted not more than 10 seconds. I really love this project because I got a lot of fun by making the video and by taking the photos and the short clips. It also helped me to developed my creativity. The theme of my video is FAMILY. I choose that theme because I think that if we only have one day to live I would be spending my time with my family that is the most important thing for me that I love. In the beginning, I thought of many other themes like friends, nature and sports but something happened that let me to only one option FAMILY. I left the homework of taking photos and short clips to the end so because of that, in the last day of the long weekend went with my family to La Estancia to eat all together. I took advantage of that moment to do it.

The process of making my video was very long and a liitle difficult but fun. I first, I took the photos from my iphone and the short clips from my sister iphone. Than I download it to my computer (mac) by using iphoto. I made the video by using imovie. Mr. Picketts wanted us to have in our video 5 photos at least from others so by doing that, I used Raul's USB to translate the 4 photos from the classroom computer to my mac. I got a lot of fun by making my video.

One Day on Earth part two

Today in computer class, we saw two films about one day on earth. This film has many powerful images like the one with the guy jumping with only one leg in the Olympics for handicapped people. This image was very powerful that touched my heart very quickly. When I saw that, I started thinking that if he could do that< i can do it and other many things. That anything is impossible. Another image that was very powerful was the two army guys entering a house. I like that image a lot because it remind me in the video game Call of Duty. This film make me reflect in many things about my actitude with others and how I need to appreciate what I have.

One Day on Earth

The video that we saw in today's computer class was a video made of many little videos of maximum 10 sec each, or clips. I really like it because it showed many cool photos and clips about people laughing, suffering in war, praying, running and other many things. The message in this film is to show us that we aren't the only one in this world with problems, to show us that there are many other cultures, that everything happens to everybody and not only to us. This film make me think in many things relating to my problems that I have in school, with my friends and with my family and that it doesn't relates with the problems that the world has.

Liters and miles

During this past days we made a project using excel and we measure the distance and time we made from our house to school and how much money we spend per year. I had discovered many things about what I spend by going 5 times a week to school and other things. For example, I spend a lot of gasoline and I realize that it contaminates a lot of the environment. Imagine how much waste of gasoline us used everyday in the entire world. This contaminates a lot. I also realized that my parents worked a lot only to buy gasoline to do our daily activities. I really like doing this project because it helped me to think much about what i am doing everyday by using a lot of gasoline.

Measurement chart

We worked on measuring how much gas our car spends each year by going from our house to school and back. The gas that my Escalade 2009 spends each year is 962 liters. This is incredible of how much gasoline we as humans used in a year. Now I am considering how much contamination we put to our environment and that we are wasting a lot of oil, nonrenewable resource. My dream car spend less gas than my Escalade because is smaller. My dream car is a jeep wrangler 2011 and is spends 640.1 liters of gasoline per year. Compare with my Escalade 2009, my car spends 321.9 less per year.
